The Challenge

Each year, Unidev works with Cardinal Glennon to create their seasonal ecommerce site that allows customers to purchase their annual Glennon Card. The digital discount shopping program raises money for SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital while giving shoppers a discount at many local restaurants and retailers. This ecommerce site needs to allow for purchases of the digital cards, give merchants the ability to sign up to participate in the program and access business resources, and provide a directory of participating businesses for shoppers, all while passing a variety of stringent PCI Compliance requirements.

The Solution

Unidev’s development team worked with Glennon’s security specialists to proactively determine any possible security risks throughout the transaction portion of the site. It was important to ensure that during the transfer of financial information the customers were not exposed to fraud and that their payment information was not compromised.

Though PCI compliance, or payment card industry compliance, is not required by law, it is strongly recommended for protecting users. PCI is a set of 12 security standards that businesses must use when accepting, transmitting, processing, and storing credit card data to be fully compliant  These standards include requirements such as encryption of cardholder data, managing firewalls, updating antivirus software, and more.

The Result

The result of this project was a beautifully designed website that was easy for both merchants and buyers to navigate, while at the same time keeping credit card data safe and secure. This site was highly customized to include all the functionality needed to support this annual charitable event.
